Blog Stalking

Cleaning Poem
I asked the Lord to tell me
Why my house is such a mess.
He asked if I'd been 'computering',
And I had to answer 'yes.'
He told me to get off my fanny,
And tidy up the house.
And so I started cleaning up...
The smudges off my mouse.
I wiped and shined the topside..
That really did the trick.....
I was just admiring my good work.
I didn't mean to 'click.'
But click, I did, and oops - I found
A real absorbing site
That I got SO way into it - I was into it all night.
Nothing's changed except my mouse.
It's very, very shiny
I guess my house will stay a mess.......
While I sit here on my hiney.

I was doing so well updating the blog... I've been "busy." Not cleaning-hence the poem, which I LOVE! I was going to post some pictures of the non-cleaning that has been going on. But I thought I would save myself the embarrassment and you can just take my word for it.
I have been busy brushing up on my Texas knowledge for my kindergarten class. We have been preparing for our Spring Open House in early March. And I have been busy blog stalking...
Since the revamping of Facebook I have been cutting back and fallen into love with blogging world. I come home from a long day of sweet and snotty hugs and relax by reading my favorite blogs. I do not have to tell you about my obsession with Pioneer Woman but I have found some new loves. Most of them are full of inspiring do-it-yourself creations that I can live vicariously through with the little free time I have. And a few are just full of witty humor and honest real life marriages and babies that spike that Baby Fever....
Yes... I have found a new obsession and decided upon a goal for this summer. I am going to learn how to sew. My mom is the person for the job, I have asked her to teach me. There are just too many cute and amazing and cheap creations to be made. I am making a list.
My man friend had the late shift tonight. This meant a night for myself in my PJs snuggling with the kitties and the pup at my feet and yes... a night full of blog stalking. I did my husband but there were blogs to be read, trashy TV to be watched with total control of the remote. Not too shabby....

Pick a Number....

Today we made up our Kindergarten Valentine's Party that was rescheduled due to our "blizzard." Their love is so pure... I received so many sweet and innocent I love yous today. This is why I love my job. Point of my story, I did not tell you about our first Valentines together.

Sorry in advance for the mushy love stuff. I would rather tell you about the funny things in our crazy life but.... I had the best Valentine! Our first Valentine's Day as newlyweds could not have been better. I was surprised on Saturday with a beautiful bouquet and a SWEET Starbucks tumbler. We Hruskocys... we love our coffee. Sunday morning I was awaken by coffee in bed... see what I was saying? It takes a lot of java to wake up a teacher on the weekend. He gave me some Bath and Body Works loot and a beautiful necklace. Too much, but very appreciated!
I was planning on cooking a Paleo friendly meal for our dinner date, due to Tom's test the following day. With a change of plans we were handed a reservation to Texas de Brazil, a Brazilian steakhouse in Dallas. We decided we deserved it, and we were off. It was amazing! I love any time I can get ALONE with my handsome hubby. It was so nice to reflect on the past (almost) year. We are in a completely different place than we were those first few months, with God's grace. We can look back and see that He truly did have a plan for us. And what a testimony... I am so blessed and loved to have Tom in my life.

I do love my Valentine!!!
My last gift from Tom was a surprise... he came home on Monday from the academy and said...
"Pick a number between 1-200."
"40!"
"No...."
My thoughts... okay here comes another blonde hater joke to make me feel silly.
Because last time I checked 40 was between 1 and 200.
I gave him the benefit of the doubt and kept my cool....
"Higher..."
"Okay, 140." Here it came the blonde hair hatin' punchline.
He said, "I want you to take $140 on Friday and take yourself shopping. You deserve it."
So now I felt bad. He was being sweet and there I was waiting for an insult. I was so excited, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor and thank him. We have been trying to save money for when we can move away from the dump neighboring apartment and the wardrobe has been suffering a bit. All week I was waiting for Friday to come for my spree. I decided that Tom was either tired of hearing about the underwire of my bra poking me in the side (told you... suffering!) or he is just the best husband in the world. I will vote for the later.

After school today I hit up a few of my favorite bargain stores with the sister... TJ Maxx, Belk, Target, ROSS.

I made a few purchases but my favorite is the brand new bronze shower caddy currently residing in our shower. You know you are married when a shower caddy makes your day...

Snow Cream, Camo and a Valentines Creation

BEWARE: This is a mish mosh post of some of the happenings from our 5 day weekend:

This is the look I received from the husband as I was laying in our warm bed for my first of two snow days while he was getting ready for work. Poor baby had to learn how to drive police automobiles in the cold, hence the camo coveralls. I may or may not have been gloating...

Our sweet Kali did not know what to think of all the white stuff, and to be perfectly honest I didn't either. We have never seen so much snow in Texas since I moved here in kindergarten. Kali did not know what to think of all of the snowmen. When we ventured out we found so many and she barked at every single one. This one we named Jalapeno Hal... he had a smorgasbord of food for his facial features. Jalapenos for eyes, a carrot nose and a hot dog for the mouth... they obviously raided the fridge. Very resourceful!

A second after the first picture Kali walked around and snatched off Jalapeno Hal's mouth! I first looked around to see if anyone was watching... laughed... snapped a pic... then spanked her bottom! Yes, I'm going to be a great mother. I did return the half eaten hot dog to his face.

With all this snow I had to make some Snow Cream. Who knows when we will get this chance again. Totally not Paleo, but totally not caring I avoided all yellow snow and scooped up some fresh WHITE snow. The process was quite hard for me, I had a fight with the sugar. But it was delicious. I felt like a little kid... I had to put it in this snowman mug from my mom.
Kali liked it too!

After catching up on a few shows and snuggling with the pup and kitties I headed out with my mom and sister for a lunch and movie date. So much for a stay at home in your PJs snowday... no I made use of my day off.

I made a Valentines wreath out of cupcake liners for my mom this Valentine's Day. I have been wanting to try ever since I saw the idea on a craft blog. It was a lot easier than I thought, but a little time consuming... good thing I had two snow days! Everything together cost maybe $10 and I found a lot of things at the Dollar Store for this creation. It cured my crafting fix until spring break... speaking of spring; where are you?

Over It

I'm so over winter... don't get me wrong I loved the snow days but I am ready for Spring. Hence the new blog layout. I am hoping that with this change the warm weather will come.

Spring... in the words of my kindergartners, "Dude spring means going out to recess and the Easter bunny!" Amen!

(Be sure to scroll down I did some catching up on the blog last night... I have the dark circles to prove it!)

Spice Up Your Life

I'm taking it back to my middle school days with some Spice Girls
When you're feelin' sad and low
We will take you where you gotta go
Smiling dancing everything is free
All you need is positivity
Colors of the world
Spice up your life
Every boy and every girl
Spice up your life
People of the world
Spice up your life.... AHHHHH!
Here is my Paleo update... I have been loving the hunt for new recipes. I have discovered so many new spices I had never heard of. I love the fresh spices and garnishes! But they are definitely not cheap... well worth it though. This picture reminded me of the Spice Girls song above. And that's what we are doing... spicing up our meals.
Remember these bad boys? I had never cooked with these colorful beauties... I was scared! I wish the Pioneer Woman had a how to on how to cut a bell or red pepper. When I sliced them open this is what I saw. Don't they look angry... like they're screaming at me?!? I wanted to stop.
Luckily, I persevered and it turned into Paleo Meatloaf... Half were turned into meatloaf muffins and this was Tom's half. Definitely a keeper!
My man has a sweet tooth... I tell my kindergartners he is a cookie monster! To cure his cravings I tried to make some Caveman custard. Again I got to use our cute little Crate and Barrell dishes, which I LOVE! :) But the custard I did not love so much... its ok the hubby devoured both of them.
We went to a paleo potluck with some friends from Tom's crossfit gym. Here is our contribution... chicken veggie wraps. Good gracious these were good! So easy and fun to make.
Here is the mother of all recipes. Moroccan Chicken Casserole. This required spices I would never even try to pronounce. With a grated cauliflower base as a substitute for rice I was a bit nervous. But it was delicious! All of the flavors were amazing! It was a bit time consuming to cook but it was worth the time and effort.
Yes, I was scared before of these alien vegetables. But after a few weeks of new recipes I think I had the last laugh.... (sorry it's late)

Crescent Cove Cinderella

I have a mild obsession with Disney movies. One of my favorites was Cinderella. I love the storyline... searching for your one true love using only one clue; a lost shoe. Last week on my way home from work I found someones glass slipper... only it was a Jessica Simpson pump.
Who is the Crescent Cove Cinderella? Well she definitely is not making a living scrubbing the floors for her evil stepsisters is she can afford Jessica Simpson leather pumps. Unless her evil sisters are wearing Manolo Blahniks. I would scrub a few floors for these shoes.

Yes, I wanted to be an investigator and find out who owned these killer heels. Because I know I would be crying my eyes out if I walked in the door with only one of my favorite shoes. Instead I just snapped a picture and left the lonely slipper alone for our Cinderella's prince charming to find. I would be lying if I said I didn't think about this beauty all night long. They were my size... 8 1/2- too good to be true.

In the morning when I left for school, she was still there. Oh Jessica, you looked so cold lying on the cement now glistening in the sun with frozen dew drops from the night before. I took one last look and drove away. I knew that if I tried to find Crescent Cove Cinderella my reward would have to be the other shoe!

Husband and Wife ESP

Today was long... I woke up thinking today was Thursday. I was entirely disappointed. Fighting a sinus infection/ virus for the 4th time this school year my head was pounding. Needless to say I was sending the hubby some super powerful ESP signals on his way home from the academy...
Hmmmmmm.... Bring home Diet Coke... extra large.... extra limes... easy ice... Hmmmmmmm ( Is there a length limit on ESP messages to husbands?)
I got really excited when the hubster called on his way home. I would like to say that after less than a year we can read each other minds and these messages worked but sometimes you just have to say it- BRING HOME DIET COKE! He knew I meant business.

My husband is the best. I needed an Sonic diet coke to tackle this beast....

Oh Lord! This, in all of its glory is "The Chair." We love this chair! It's way over sized between a regular chair and a love seat. Me and the hubster can sit comfortably side by side. Two things about "The Chair"... 1. With our current living room space there is now way to rearrange the furniture to enjoy the chair and see the TV. We have tried and tried, over and over again but no go! Just another reason we are excited to move elsewhere. 2. Because the sitting space is out of commission it leaves the perfect place to throw clean laundry before folding. This is a mountain of a heap. Good gracious... this is as big as its ever been. I'm completely overwhelmed. Here is my second ESP for the night.

Hmmmmmmmmmm... Let's get a maid... so I will never have to do laundry again... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I would like to say the Diet Coke helped... but when Tom left for a man date I had full reign of the remote and American Idol was singing my name.

Maybe another day. Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow. I'm crossing my fingers I could us a mental health day/ folding laundry day.

Mama said there'd be days like this...

This week has been gloomy! The sun hasn't shown its face in days. I don't know how Phil the groundhog saw his shadow to scare him back into his hole. And let me tell you, I was crossing every finger and every toe hoping that Spring was on it's way. The cloudy weather REALLY puts me in a funk and I have had ZERO motivation to do anything.

Last night I grew a bit tired of listening to the hubby's video game and decided to drag my behind off the couch and clean our bathroom. It had been a while since the last scrub down. Nothing like a good bleach cleaner and a new shower liner to brighten your day.

In the middle of scrubbing down the tub.. this happened.

No use crying over spilled Comet!!!! I knew I shouldn't have left the couch.
Lesson learned... Save cleaning for the weekends!

Marraige is all about compromise...

Tonight I am practicing selfless love.
I am trading in my two hours of this...

For a marathon of this....

I heard marraige is all about compromise. Tonight I will give it a try instead of me and Tom heading in to seperate rooms to watch our shows.

The Bachelor may be available on demand in 24 hours compliments of Time Warner cable but a husband's love is not....
