Mom's and Playing Hookie

Tomorrow is my mom's birthday! I have the best mom. I always told my friends I wanted to grow up to be just like her. I can always remember all of the fun things she did for me and my sister and our friends while we were growing up. She was able to stay at home to watch my sister and I and we both have it no other way. She always threw us the best birthday parties with the most creative cakes. I can only hope that I when I have children of my own that they will think of me the same way I do about my mom. She is my best friend...
She is beautiful...

She is one of the most selfless people I know.
She is an amazing wife...
She's stinkin' hilarious....
And she is an amazing mother...
I love you mom! I hope you have a great birthday!
Mom's and hookie... two words you may never hear in the same sentence again. Tomorrow I am taking a mental health day. (Well atleast thats what I am calling it). I'm leaving my 23 kinder babies for another and heading to Canton for the day with the birthday girl. Yes I have been dying to go again since our last trek to the "Thrifting Mecca." Remember all my fun little pretties? I heard my mom was going all alone on her birthday and what kind of daughter would I be if I just let her go by herself?!? :) I am excited about spending the day with my mom just the two of us. Although Euless is just a skip away from Flower Mound, we really don't get to see each other to often.
So here's to Thrifty Finds and Cheap Steals and to Mom's and Playing Hookie...
Hope your Friday is as good as mine! :)

A little bit crazy's alright

I might be crazy.... no not because of the bleach cleaning fumes floating in my head from a late night cleaning session.... I just registered for my first 5K run THIS SATURDAY! This Saturday... A little late notice I know. Now when I thought of how my first 5K run would progress there is a lot of mental preparation and a lot of running training. Maybe a little couch to 5K program on the ipod. But that would be easy.

Actually I have been unknowingly preparing with crossfit ing since June, but there has been little running due to the high temperatures. But I'm jumping in! I am really excited about it actually and ready to see how much crossfit has changed and is changing my life. If you know me at all I am NOT a runner, so me signing up on my own... without bribery, without crying or without dragging my feet is huge. Well, I take that back. The 5K run is through the Delaney Wine Vineyards in Grapevine with a free wine tasting at the end of the race. So maybe there is a little bribery...

So I am spending these next few days putting together the ultimate playlist for the run. Searching for "come on Katie don't stop, don't let the walkers pass you" songs. You know there will be some from the queen, Britney Spears. She just knows how to make you wanna dance and in this case run. And maybe a little Justin Beiber. I've got the fever... the Beiber Fever!

Yes I think I might be a little crazy... wish me luck!

i ♥ fall

Now I don't want to jinx it, but I think Fall has arrived in Texas. The first day of fall was definitely not that with a high in the high 80s... Don't get me wrong, I wasn't above partaking in a Pumpkin Spice Latte. I'm just saying it may have been a bit more enjoyable drinking it with the windows down on the way to work. Instead the air was on full blast so I wouldn't be sporting pit stains at work due to the fact I traded my usual iced coffee for a hot one. Today was a different story. I woke up and shivered when I opened the back door to let Kali out.... SHIVERED!!! Seconds later I was digging around in an unpacked boxed marked Katie's Winter Clothes for my black yoga pants. I couldn't put them on fast enough.

The rest of the day was spent with the windows open, the AC off, cleaning and grilling kabobs with a handsome hubby and sister! I don't what it is about good weather that makes me want to clean. The fresh air does it to me I guess. Me and the house are not complaining.

Maybe the fresh air does the same thing to my husband because after me listing off a laundry lists of tasks I wanted him to do tomorrow on his day off he said, "Just make me a list and put it somewhere I can find it." What the?!?! I almost fainted. I never thought he would go for a list left for him to do on his day off and it was ALL his idea. I took full advantage... so here ladies and gents is the first Honey Do List for Mr. H :)

I kept it short with only four items with a sweet note at the bottom. I had to butter him up so these Honey Do List have a future in this house. I do love my husband!

#3 on the list is causing a little bit of grief in my life. Friday night after my officer went to work I was doing a little late night cleaning and saw a wewillnotmentionitsnamebecauseiwontsleep bug crawling across my living room floor. After standing frozen for 5 seconds I ran to get the Raid and when I came back I couldn't find it anywhere. I was brave enough/ terrified of going to bed not finding it enough to move the couches and chairs to kill this guy, but still could not find him. So every night I've been saying a prayer this little, well big guy won't find his way into my bed.

So even though 4 for 4 being completed would tickle me to death. If #3 is the only one crossed off when I get home the inaugural Honey Do List will be considered a success.

Sianara...

I am saying goodbye to life as we know it. Today my man friend went and purchased the new Xbox. Luckilly he traded in his old one, I would put my foot down with 2 Xboxes in the house. This pretty black box will be stealing all my quality time with my husband for the next decade. Now I will admit it is sleek looking but when I asked him why it was different than the old one, I only picked up on a few words; quicker connection... bigger hard drive... wireless. The rest was all gibberish. I wasn't able to tell any difference watching, but we'll keep that between us.
Boys will be boys. As long as this black beast stays away from the DVR box I am a happy woman. There will be no problems. So goodbye husband. Honey, I'll just put the food by the door for you :)

Winos for a Day

Grapevine's Grapefest
Here's to sweet friends ...
Good looking men (especially the one in the plaid)...
Good wine shared with friends...
Lots of laughs...
And Beautiful Texas Women!!! :)

It's been WAY too long...

Praise the Lord... moving is over. I won't bore you with our hectic moving plan during the second week of school. Instead a picture to sum up our lives in the past few weeks.
We are back and in turbo speed... Along with an upgrade from a 2 bedroom house to a 3 bedroom house we have upgraded our cable internet package which includes Turbo Internet. I don't really know what difference that makes in my internet browsing, as long as I can stalk facebook furiously and read all of my blogs I am a happy girl. But as for my man friend, his dream has come true as turbo means extra fast video games on Xbox Live. Two more bonuses came along with this upgrade included FREE DVR...be still my heart. Now I won't have to beg my husband to watch my trashy TV shows. And our upgrade also included a landline with free calls to Canada. Mrs Hameister Reis, I will speaking with you soon.

We are loving our new house! There is so much room we have been able to spread out everything and we are not tripping over each other or Kali. Kali loves having the backyard to run around in and the patio for sunning. She will sit out there all by herself.

You can see a bit of our patio. That is the little fountain/pond and the awesome tire swing in the background. And yes, you know we have swung on it more than once or twice. The tree is really tall so with the boy pushing me I got pretty high. Brought me back to my childhood... along with the dizzy nauseous feeling afterwards as well.

I have found that a new home brings A LOT of new friends. Most have been bad in our case. We supposedly have a nosey neighbor across the street so we have been making a conscious effort to keep the blinds closed. It's not those new friends I'm worried about its the new friends with more than two legs and are creepy and crawly. Yes on moving day we met our first house guests. A swarm of angry hornet hanging out on our front porch to welcome us to the neighborhood. Since then we have sprayed three more nests. They are definitely overstaying their welcome and given me a nervous twitch whenever I see something flying by.

My man friend will be spraying our house on his day off tomorrow to protect us from the ants and few baby roaches that seem to be lurking in our love nest. The one crawling guest that I don't mind hanging around is a cute little gecko on our kitchen window.

He hangs out near our light to catch all the bugs. He has been there every night, so I don't think he's going anywhere. So I think we shall name him Lenny. Lenny the lizard. And as long as he stays on the outside of the window he can stay.

Yes our little nest definitely needs some work. I have named this project "Lots of Love." But I have lots of love to give our new house. Lots of love to give but not so much time. Between the first few weeks of school, crossfit and my hubby's crazy schedule we are still working on unpacking the last few boxes. It's coming together slowly but surely but I do love it. The few improvements that we have made is only making it more of a home to us. So the hours of repainting the cabinets, baseboards, doors and bead board have all been worth it. I love having a place to call our home. Hopefully in the next week I will have some more pictures to share of our little love nest. But if you have waited this long for a new blog post :) I'll keep you in suspense a little longer. Until then I have some laundry to do, some boxes to unpack and scrubbing to do.
